Magnet Marine Science Program

New River Middle School, participants of the Marine Science MAGNET program allows students to experience and learn about marine science and its connection to our environment. MAGNET students will be exposed to a wealth of marine-related, educational opportunities. However ALL of our New River students will be introduced to environmental enlightenment. The NRMS Marine Science program is ever-evolving and  provides an in-depth exploration of Florida’s coastal habitats. It emphasizes an appreciation of the environment, the conservation of our coastal ecosystem, and an understanding of the South Florida Water Management District, and other Florida agencies and marine industries.

Academic Requirements

Acceptance into a Magnet Program for middle and high school students is based on academic performance.

•Grade Point Average- 2.0

•Level 3 or greater FCAT score (reading & math)
